Wow. It's been a year since Aya Kakeda, Garrett Van Winkle and I have been mailing each other drawings to collaborate on! 24 drawings and one huge painting are the result of our efforts (and the postal service) and we're pretty proud of how it turned out.

Hope to see everyone at HQ tonight for the opening of "Birds of Montreal". I'm really happy with the exhibit, so I hope you all will brave the mild rain and check out the show.

Seeing as it's Friday, that means I have a new 8 Track posted as well. I thought I would go for a bird theme, to tie in with the show. Enjoy!

The "Birds of Montreal" opening is quickly coming up! We're all working on the finishing touches on a few colab pieces as well as some solo works. Aya will be coming to Montreal for the opening and to work on a wall mural at HQ. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Be sure to drop by and bring your friends.

100 Artists ProjectLast year I took part in the first volume of 100 Artists project, which helped raise money for artistic organizations. All the participating sent in original drawings on paper that were then assembled into sketchbooks and auctioned off. It was interesting to see the finished product and all the different styles of work that went into it. There is a print version available and information on how to get involved here: http://www.100artistsproject.com

"The Big Mailer" is a more ambitious project that I also took part in. It consists of a big black sketchbook being mailed from artist to artist, each contributing their work to one page before mailing off to the next artist. This is obviously a slower process but it was pretty cool to get my hands on some of the original work.

A sneak peek at some of my faves....

My contribution.

En Masse

I took part in an amazing group exhibit called "En Masse" that has been curated by Jason Botkin & Tim Barnard. 28 artists collaborate on a huge mural that has been slowly added to over the last two weeks. The show officially opens tonight as part of Montreal's Nuit Blanche at Gallery Pangee in the Old Port (40 St. Paul West)

OK, so The One Of A Kind Show in Toronto was kind of a bust. 2008 was a shit year in general and the OOAK show was the cherry on the top of the shit sundae. Moving on......

2009 is going to be a hell of a lot better. How do I know this? Well, besides owning a time machine, I also have a few exhibits lined up with pals Garrett Van Winkle (Winnipeg) and Aya Kakeda (Japan/ New York). We will be meeting up this month for a week of "Art Boot Camp" to produce a motherload of colab drawings and painting. Keep your eyes peeled for exhibits in NY, Winnipeg, Montreal, Japan and Calgary in 2009-2010.
Also, if you missed "It's Probably Worth More Than That III" the group exhibit featuring art priced at $100 and under, it has been extended until the end of January! Swing by HQ )1649 Amherst, Montreal, QC) to check it out.
